London - Nuneaton - Lincoln - London

The railtour was hauled from King's Cross to Nuneaton by 47759 and

is seen approaching Peterborough.

At Nuneaton, 47759 was replaced by A4 steam locomotive 60009

"Union of South Africa".

After travelling via Leicester, Toton and Pinxton, 60009 traversed the

metals of the "Robin Hood Line" and made the first of three stops

for water at Shirebrook station where it is illustrated above.

Continuing through Worksop, Retford and Gainsborough, a second

water stop was made bear Lincoln. 60009 is seen making its way

towards Central Station at Lincoln. It then continued to Peterborough

via the former GN & GE Joint Line via the Sleaford avoiding line and

Spalding.

A prolonged water stop meant resulted in the tour running over 60

minutes late when it reached Peterborough.

The driver and fireman look out of the cab at

Peterborough shortly before departure on the

final leg of the tour to London King's Cross.
