Skegness - Whitby

47783 at Skegness before departure

47783 at York

47792 at York before being attached to the end of the train

Having left the East Coast Main Line at Longlands Junction (just

south of Northallerton), the train traversed a short line normally

used for freight which passes under the ECML. Above shows the

train leaving the freight line as it joins the main Northallerton to

Eaglescliffe line at Northallerton East Junction.

47792 after arrival at Whitby

The train was stabled at the sidings near Whitby station

Due to fumes leaking into the cab, 47783 was detached from the

formation

47792 took the train all the way back to Skegness by itself. It is

illustrated here after departing from Whitby and alongside the

River Esk in the mist.

As a reversal is necessary at Battersby, 47792 was detached from

the train and is seen making its way before being attached to the

other end of the formation.

Back at Skegness early the following morning

After reversing into the sidings at Skegness, 47792 was detached to

change ends of the train.

47792 departs from Skegness for Bounds Green with the empty

coaching stock.
