LITTLE STEEPING

The station (which closed to passengers on November 11th, 1961) can be seen in the distance. This section of the East Lincolnshire Main Line was once the second longest "straight" in the country. This part of the line is still open as part of the branch line to Skegness but the signal box (just visible in the right distance) was demolished several years ago when the crossing was automated.

TORKSEY

The viaduct which once carried the direct route from Lincoln to Retford.

The old depot at Torksey meant that the eastern section of the line remained open until September 9th, 1988.
