A classic view which, at the time it was taken (1976) was a contrast

between the old and new in the fleet. The acquisition of Leyland Nationals

in 1974 broke away from the LRCC's preference from ECW-bodied

Bristols. 2810 (GTL 353N) was new to the Company in 1975. Beside it is

Bristol LD5G 2353 (SFU 307) whch dated from 1958 and was withdrawn

in 1976. The location of the photograph was the bus station at Boston

which had then only recently opened. 2810 has arrived on the route 59

from Spalidng and is parked up between duties. 2353 incorrectly displays

"68" instead of 58 (a Boston town service). The destination was actually

Skirbeck Church although the blind displays the rather unhelpful

"SERVICE" ! The vehicles, the bus station and the routes have all long

since gone, the latter a result of the LRCC closing the long-established

depot at Boston in August 1989.
