A classic view taken at Louth bus station in 1976. On the left Bristol

LH6P 1658 (JVL 364G) arrives on the service 48 from Saltfleet whilst a

1959 vintage Bristol MW 2231 (SFU 856) awaits departure to Boston via

Alford and Spilsby on the erstwhile route 61. 1658 was one of several

examples with dual-purpose seating and was new to the LRCC in 1969. At

this time it, and sister vehicles, would be used on the Company's express

runs (all of which were given route letters instead of numbers) such as the

B (Cleethorpes - London). Travelling for seven hours on an LH must have

been quite an experience although there would be plenty of enthusiasts

willing to do it nowadays. The route 61 was withdrawn in 1980 and, since

then, there has been no through bus link between Louth and Boston.
