In 1978 the LRCC acquired two Bristol FS6Bs from Southdown which were

new in 1962. They were painted white and named 2350 (XPM 41)

"Lincoln Imp" and 2351 (XPM 42) "Lincolnshire Poacher". Initially they

simply ran along the Skegness sea front but later the service was extended

to Winthorpe Avenue (currently open toppers work 6 miles on route 99

between Skegness and Chapel St. Leonards). After withdrawal and

replacement by more modern one-man operated types, 2351 saw further

use as a driver training vehicle being re-registered AFE 171A (see below).

Curiously, although the vehicles have long since been withdrawn, their

registrations live on and are used by two coaches in the current fleet.

I had an unconfirmed report that one of the FS's was working abroad.

If anybody knows any more about what happened to these buses after their

withdrawal, please e-mail us.
