(Photographs by N. Drewry unless otherwise stated)

967 / 2048 (HFW 489) a Bristol LWL5G with ECW B39R body was new to the LRCC in 1952 and is seen that year emerging from the Company's rather congested High Street bus station which was replaced by a new building at St. Marks in 1959. At this time, despite the rather limited capacity, services from this bus station ran to Sleaford (2, 2A, 2C); Cleethorpes (3); New Holland (4), Newark (7, 7A,7B), Louth (10), Retford (12) and Boston (8). Routes to Grantham (1); Skegness (6); Hykeham (9) and Doddington (11) used a bus stop in nearby St Mark Square. HFW 489 is last recorded in 1966 with Tinsley Prepacked foods at Holbeach St Marks having been withdrawn from the LRCC fleet that year.

941 / 1863 EFW 395, an AEC Regal III with DP35F body is seen at the Brighowgate bus station in Grimsby in 1952. The bus station is now used by Applebys. It was acuired by the LRCC from Premier Motor services of Scunthorpe in 1948.

928 / 1856 (EBE 704) was an AEC Regal with Plaxton C32F body new in July 1947 to Enterprise (Scunthorpe) Passenger Services Ltd, and was one of many vehicles which passed into fleet when the Company was acquired by the LRCC in March 1950 . It was new to Eastern Counties in 1939 and withdrawn by the LRCC in 1957. It is photographed whilst at Ashby (?) with Ashby Works on the destination blind. The adverts behind are for the Lincolnshire edition of the Sheffield Telegraph. A very early view (believed to have been taken at Bracebridge Heath) of a Chevrolet of which the LRCC once had a large number. The last new one of these was C182 (FW 1986) in March 1931 of which the LRCC had indeed many and far more than they had Cubs. The early Cubs were very different with a big and prominent "piggy" bonnet. The last new Chevy was C182 (FW1986) in March 1931, the first new Bedford WLB, its successor in production, was B191 (FW2496) in September 1931 and the first batch of KP2 Cubs (LC195 to 209) arrived in February to May 1932.  The vehicle illustrated shows route 4 from Lincoln to New Holland where a connection would be made with the ferry across the Humber to Hull.

Interestingly, it is recorded as being preserved at the National Museum of Transport, St. Louis, Missuouri, USA from January 1974. Does anyone know if it is still there ?
