Bristol VRT/SL3s. Both 1957/8 (PFE 541/2V) are used as School

Buses.

A rear view of the other “new to RoadCar” Bristol VRT is 1952

1999, in the company of one of the Reeve Burgess bodied Renault

S75’s in the fleet.

An overall view of Scunthorpe on a sunday. Nearest the camra are

Illustrating the two versions of Alexander AL body in the RoadCar

fleet are 750 (SCN 250S) which came from Circle Line of Gloucester

in 1997 and 746 (UGH 146V) which was acquired from Preston Bus

in 1995. Both bodies are based on Leyland Atlanteans.

(OEM 785S) which came from Nottingham Omnibus in 1995, it spent

some time in passengers service before being converted into a trainer

in late 1998. (right) East Lancs bodied 710 (DHG 210W) is one of 15

The two ex Trent Buses (1997) ECW bodied Leyland Olympians are

pictured here, on the left is 713 (B713 HVO) and on the right is 721

(C721 NNN). both the routes show on there destination displays

are now operated by low-floor Dennis Dart/East Lancs Spryte.

One of three ECW bodied Leyland Olympians purchased new in 1985

was 601 (B501 FFW). They were originally intended to work the 350

(Humberlink) service between Scunthorpe and Hull via the four year

old Humber Bridge. All three left Scunthorpe during the early 1990s,

however 601 found its way back and is currently allocated here.

(602 (B602 FFW) is at Gainsborough and 603 (B603 FFW is at

Lincoln).

RoadCar currently have six coach seated Leyland Olympians in

service (601-3 B501-3 FFW, 646-8 C46-8 KBE). There number

include this ex Lincoln City Transport East Lancs bodied example

647 (C47 KBE) which was new in 1985.

RoadCar can still muster some 14 Leyland Leopards in its fleet, with

bodywork by Duple, Plaxton and in this case Alexander, which is also

the most common. 1446 (TSJ 46S) which has since been

re-registered CFE 846S is pictured standing at Newark Bus Station

in June 1999.

In the mid 1990’s RoadCar purchased a number of buses from

Ipswich. All except this 1982 Alexander Q-type bodied Bristol B21

were Leyland Atlanteans. 259 (YBJ 159X) is pictures leaving Lincoln

Bus Station. The bus carries Lincoln City Transport fleet names.

The Business of Pete’s Coaches of Lincoln was acquired in 1997,

bringing six vehicles into stock. 1002/3 (429 SAR, NJU 1W) are

Bedford YMTs, whilst1004 (BBB 536V) is a Bedford YLQ. All carry

Plaxton Supreme IV bodies.

1407/8 (MDT 337W, JHE 98W) are a pair of Plaxton Supreme IV

bodied Leyland Leopards, new in 1981. Both vehicles are almost

exclusively used on 353 (Scunthorpe - Lincoln) service, and came into

the fleet from Yorkshire Traction in 1998.

Acquired from Yorkshire Traction in 1992 is this 1983 Plaxton

Paramount 3200 bodied Leyland Tiger. Pictueed at Scunthorpe in

2000, it is a regular performer on the 350 (Scunthorpe - Hull)

"Humberlink service and the 353 (Scunthorpe - Lincoln) service,

however it has resently completed a turn on the 398.

RoadCar operates the 350 Hull - Scunthorpe "Humberlink" with

three East Lancs EL2000 rebodied Leyland Tigers. 457 (PIW 4457)

457 chassis came from Troika Travel and 291 is ex Hylton Castle

coaches.

There is now a big fleet of Leyland National 2s in RoadCar's fleet,

many of which, as is this ones, are ex Yorkshire Traction. This

example, new in 1980, is 204 (EDT 204V) which carries Lincoln City

mid morning journey to Birchwood.

the time of writing.

In 1994 Lincolnshire RoadCar received a batch of Optare

Scunthorpe Bus Station. At the time the picture was taken (September

however I think this one was withdrawn on Thursday (2nd of

November), with Volvo B6 385 (L85 CNY) entering service.

When RoadCar withdrew a number of its short MCW Metroriders last

November six 31 seaters were reallocated to Scunthorpe. Pictured

here are Optare StarRider bodied Mercades-Benz 811D 397

Grantham.

All of RoadCar's Optare and MCW Metroriders are now based at

Scunthorpe. Pictured here are a pair of the long B31F models. 345

purchased in 1991 from Optare.

This bus is a 1976 Roe bodied Leyland Atlantean which is used as a

driver training unit. It spend a small amount of time in the passenger

fleet, but has served most of its life as a trainer. It came from Ipswich

Buses in 1994.

Freight Rover Sherpa 3022 (D172 NON) is training unit format

previously to it being converted to a trainer this vehicle was a

buildings maintenance van and before that a Road Runner. Its place as

a van has been taken by Wright bodied Bedford PJK 3006

Operated by the service department is this ERF towing unit numbered

3071 (NDJ 871W). The bus to the left is the 1961 Bristol SC 2494
