The LRCC purchased three Bedford VAM 70s with Duple C45F bodywork

in 1967. Pictured above is 1604 (GFE 92F) at Skegness depot in 1977. They

only had a short career with the LRCC, 1603 suffering fire damage in 1974,

was sold to Wing of Sleaford for spares. The other two were both

withdrawn in 1977. It has to be said that whilst their appearance was

attractive, engine noise made them far inferior to the Bristol REs which

were also used on National Express runs.
