THE LINCOLNSHIRE COAST LIGHT RAILWAY

The Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway was opened on August 27th, 1960, and ran between North Sea Lane in Humberstone (near Cleethorpes) to the Fitties Camp. It closed in 1985 and in 1993 the rails and rolling stock were moved to the Water Leisure Park at Walls Lane (near Butlin's) in Ingoldmells. Whilst some track laying has taken place, no passenger trains have ever operated although it is understood that the diesel locomotive was used in the early days of construction. For a long period of time the rolling stock was left out to the elements and has, sadly, deteriorated as a result although the 1903 Peckett steam locomotive "Jurassic" was kept in a small shed. A large shed has since been constructed and some track laying has taken place since. Although several maps show the line as operating in a circuit, this is not so and the correct layout is as illustrated in the diagram below.
